Clutter. Crap. Junk. Whatever you call it, I have way too much of it. This weekend I decided to throw some of it away and begin organizing my life a little bit at a time. It started in the kitchen and went from there. Before I knew it, half my house was clean and I had trashcan full of old papers, matchbooks, distributor giveaways (those neat little chatchkis those chicks in the tight pants give you in greenville bars), college leftovers and refridgerator fodder. Man that felt good. Next week: the office and closets.

As for the rest of the weekend, I disappointed myself. A weekend to do whatever I wanted while jessie was in houston and what do I do? I sit at home. How depressing is that? Oh well. I went out friday night for jamer's going away send-off and that's about as exciting as it got. A positive thing was of course the organization and I didn't really spend a dime in the process. And considering this coming weekend is a road trip to austin with the boys, that's even better.

This week should be a busy one at work and on the homefront. I'd like to finish what I started in the kitchen and I'm anxious to get the project at work on press, so that should take a good chunk of my weekdays. There tends to be a trend that everytime I actually plan a weekend to go anywhere, the shit hits the proverbial fan at work... (fingers crossed on both hands)...

Last week justin and I were walking by the "janitron 2000" (as it's come to be called) when he reached in a snatched a brand new urinal mat -- cherry scented with the little red holes and everything. Not fully knowing what it would be used for just yet, we laughed at the possible prank opportunities. It first ended up in jim's chair while he was making a run for the donuts filling his office with the fresh smell of a clean pisser for a few hours. Mmmmmmm.

Well, not really. Actually it smells like ass and if you happen to be within 15 feet of a freshly unwrapped urinal mat, you'll know it. Jim in his usual "which one of you bastards did this?" plea eventually found out it was us and since then the urinal mat has made its way around the office like a "sign this" birthday card. It was last left in my office for an entire day in front of the fan filling my office with the smell (although I was too busy to notice) after it was used as a temporary replacement for patrick's mousepad. The list of potential wisecrackers has become increasingly small over the past 6 months, so if you're looking for a culprit, it's usually one of three people. Oh, well. If people didn't still have fun around here I've have to jump out my window.

Work has kept me slammed. It's good to be busy and I hope this trend continues, although to a lesser degree. It would be nice to have some stuff on the horizon.

While away from work, I've been keeping my dork status up by playing lots of playstation2 and attempting to remain competitive in my fantasy football leagues. If you have a PS2 and don't have SOCOM yet, you're missing out. And while you're girlfriend/wife may hate the purchase, you'll appreciate the "strategery" of stealthing through jungles picking off terrorists with a sniper scope and bossing your team around with your headset. Get this game -- you'll thank me. Even if the headset does make you look like you're working the drive-thru lane at Mickey D's...

Back to work before someone puts a urinal cake in my coffee while I'm gone.

For those 8 or 10 people who actually read my blog -- I apologize for not providing stimulating reading over the past week. The blog has taken a backseat to september. There's always so much going on this time of year and this year is no different. Considering today is officially the first day of fall, it seems appropriate.

The weather is just plain awesome. The mornings and evenings make you feel good just going outside and even though the mercury rises during the day, it's still nice enough to take a lunch break with the sunroof down. Not that I'd know what a lunch break is these days... work has kept my euphoria in check and the weather isn't helping that matter too much. Although, I do find myself forgetting how nice it is outside when I'm burried in Pantone 287. Beats waiting tables, I guess. :)

In looking around the site, I noticed a few things need to be done. Things like hooking the webcams back up, posting the party pics, and I've never actually written a bio... well, actually I've tried. And I've tried. But how the hell do you write a bio when it's not for anything business related without sounding like a dumbass? I mean, do you write all the stupid shit everyone else writes or does anyone really care how tall you are and what you're "into". Come to think of it, 99% of the people who come here already know me so maybe I'll make some shit up to sound really important for the all google searches who come here by accident. Speaking of google, here's just a few of the more recent search topics people have entered to land on my blog page:

madden 2003 jersey templates
running off good employees for no reason
blog Brazil september 2002
aaron brown sucks

and my personal favorite...

worst case of jock itch (not to be outdone by... chronic jock itch)

I must now go and hit golf balls outside and look forward to the time I can actually go play one of these days. Enjoy the weather, kids.

Where did the weekend go? Seems like I was just up here a few hours ago... saturdays and sundays go by in a blink after a 4 day work week.

Fantasy football sucks this year. Now I know why so many people stop keeping up with it during the season -- if you have a bad team, what's the point? Looks like it's my turn. I put all my eggs in one basket and drafted players I thought would do really well this year and I'm seeing that hindsight is 20/20. They suck. I know it's only week two, but unless a miracle happens, l'm screwed. Blah.

Speaking of football, I got the chance to go see the cowboys upset the titans yesterday from the company suite. Nice. Real nice. Part of the festivities included dallas cowboy cheerleader alumni weekend. They invited ex-cheerleaders to participate in halftime ceremonies and their section happened to be directly below us from the box. It was easy to spot them -- they each wore a white jersey with the year they were active members and there was a good range of cheerleaders from the 70's on up until last year. Dallas cowboy cheerleaders aren't exactly known for being hideous beasts of nature, so it was no surprise to see the majority of the girls still looked great after all these years. Of course, there were also a few who've gained a little "junk in the trunk" over the years, too. I guess no one is completely immune when the years roll by. :) Wow. I must be really shallow... not really. I just found the observation curious.

I think my face is going through puberty again or something... Damn.

Yesterday was busy. I got to work late after scouting the location for our group photo shoot taking place tomorrow morning. The work load continues to pile on and I'm hoping the wheels of progress will continue turning (even if it's slower than I'd like). There's so much to get done before next week... My first completely digital photo shoot experience went off without a hitch on tuesday. Digital photography rocks -- what you see is what you get and there's no surprises the next day when you get proofs back. Of course, when you take 45 meg shots with a $50K camera you'd expect quality and they delivered.

Thanks to jessie my dogs have become spoiled to running water (she started it!). Every morning I fill two buckets with fresh water and leave them in different locations. I fill two because they always manage to knock at least one of them over during the day. Now when I come home, the buckets are still full of water, but my dogs are panting like crazy. It seems the water in the back yard is no longer good enough for my two gals and only thing to quench their thirst is a nice cool drink from the bath faucet. Go figure. Maddie usually laps for about a minute or two before kasha has a chance, but they both LOVE "gettin' a drink" as I put it in my dog-talking voice when I ask them. Kinda funny if you ask me. Seems my dogs have become water snobs. Next thing I know they'll be turning their nose up to anything but evian. Goofy mutts.

God bless the USA. We will ALWAYS remember September 11th 2001. Pray our country is safe from terrorism today and in the future.

This morning, I woke up and immediately turned on the TV. Part of me was expecting to see breaking news about another threat or action, but deep down I feel the bad men are waiting for the dust to clear. Knowing this tradgedy would be dominating the news today, I put on my workout clothes and headed for the gym not thinking too much about it.

On the way there, it hit me. I don't know how to explain it, but I suddenly became an emotional wreck. Unlike a year ago where I listened to a CD all the way to work (not knowing what happened until both towers had already collapsed), this morning I flipped from stations gaining a different perspective from each one. Finally, I turned to "The Ticket" AM Sports show and tuned in just in time to hear them re-broadcast a few minutes of the events as they unfolded on the air one year ago. It freaked me out. Hearing the reactions and remembering the fear that gripped our country that fateful day made me realize how lucky I am. It was like a switch was flipped and in a second life as we know it was changed forever. I pulled up to the gym, sat in my car and closed my eyes. Unable to focus on something so mundane I headed home.

I hope I'm able to accomplish anything today.

Anyone watch MNF last night? As excited as I was to watch the first game on monday night, I couldn't help but be sickened by the pregame festivities. It's my opinion that if you're lucky enough to be asked to sing the national anthem at an event like a pro sporting event, it should come with a few rules:

1. Singer is not allowed to stray from the format (ie. don't make up your own lyrics or feel the need to alter it in any way).
2. Singer is strictly prohibited from "souling up" the star spangled banner. Last time I checked "braaaaaave" did not have 14 pitch changes and more grind than a luther vandross album.
3. Singer should not use the anthem as a canvas to paint their "look at me!" vocal abilities. Doing so will deploy rooftop snipers to take out singer's kneecaps.
4. Timing is everything. If singer exploits our national anthem near a patriotic event such as july 4th, september 11th, etc; singer will be subject to exportation to either afghanistan or palestine.
5. Boy bands, pop divas, former boy band members and mariah carey are automatically barred from singing the anthem in any public venue. Period.

If your curious, this little rant came from watching some ex-backstreet boy fruit royally fuck up our national anthem last night on monday night football. I wish he would have been booed off the stage, but considering the game was in foxborough, well... what can I say about that? Sorry, fig.

"This is disappointing for our team, and our fans because we all had high expectations going into this season and this is certainly a setback. I have to take my hat off to the Texans. They didn't play like an expansion team tonight and they just were better than we were tonight. That is disappointing."

-- Jerry Jones, owner, Dallas Cowboys

Now that my friends, is beautiful. Pro football is back in houston and I couldn't be more proud to be from the muggiest city on the planet. Congratulations, boys -- you earned it.

Thank god it's football season. After watching weeks of meaningless games, I finally get to settle in on a sunday and watch the real mccoy. And with four fantasy leagues and wagers on the line, there will be plenty to keep track of today. Go Pack!!! Time to get online and get my madden on before the action starts at noon...

In other news, the chronic throat problem has reared it's ugly head once again during the worse possible time (as usual). Stopped by the doc-in-the-box yesterday for a quick "hey, I've been here before, just give me my damn drugs" and started on a double dose last night. Feels better this morning, but still swollen near shut. I guess that should keep my shoveling of sunday junk food to a minimum. So I got that goin' for me.

Found out from les yeaterday there might be an outside chance he'll have an extra ticket for the colts/texans game in two weeks. Dammit, I hope it's not just a big tease. :)

Work is getting busy. Really busy. I spent the better part of this week preparing for photo shoots and tweaking concepts with clients who don't seem to understand that if you want something done quickly (really quickly) you can't drag your feet. We have a timeline that is near impossible and with a limited crew to get the work done it's going to be fun. At least I get to go on a few photo shoots and work with todd.

Mom and Dad came up thursday to celebrate the grandkid's second birthday. Since mine's only the day before I get the added bonus of seeing them on my birthday, too. Last night we all went to dinner at cafe brazil to celebrate the occasion. Great food and good company. Afterwards we all went back to my place for a slice of superb birthday cake (compliments of jessie) and coffee. Stayed up way too late playing madden with jamie -- at least I beat him this time. Nothing like a good waste of time like PS2.

Well, after avoiding it for eight months, I'm moved my blog over to blogger. And I'm glad I did. Now I can post from work or anywhere with internet access and not be so dependent on the powerbook. I still have a few tweaks to figure out, but this should make things easier for now... more later.

27 years old. That's almost halfway between the "perfect age" of 25 and a "thirtysomething". Happy birthday me. :) Also a birthday shoutout to chris, my uncle lynn and todd. We're all eating cake today. Happy birthday, fellas.

Back to work. :( After four days off it's a little tough to swallow. Luckily I didn't check my messages until yesterday morning -- there were plenty of hot steaming turds to deal with and I'm glad I had them off my mind until yesterday. There's a mountain of work to do and still a lot of unanswered questions. Dig deep cause the time line doesn't change.

Jessie started her blog titled "A Day in the Life". It's still a work in progress, but we set it up in blogger so there's a learning curve to edit the generic templates. I'm thinking about moving mine over to something similar. I'd like the ability to post from any browser. Right now I'm posting straight HTML and can't get through the firewall at work. Enjoy.

And finally it was a very good day from the postal service yesterday. When I got home I found the exclusive wizard simpsons toys I ordered a year ago along with the new ps2 network adapter. Took me a while to get up and running, but I'm now hooked. The only game I have that's compatible at the moment is madden 2003 and jamie proceeded to whip my ass twice before I played some strangers and suffered the same fate. Looks like I'll have to get some practice in if I want to defeat that fool every sunday morning during football season. Technology is a beautiful thing.

Four day weekends rock.

The end of summer party on friday went off without a hitch. A few stragglers aside, pretty much everyone who said they'd show did. It was a nice crowd of worlds colliding with old spider co-workers mixing with tb regulars, a few of my students and old friends to round out the crowd. Considering it was labor day weekend, I was more than pleased with the number -- around 40 or so at the peak of the party. I'll be posting pics in the photos section under "parties" sometime this week. Check back for more. In the meantime, check out the time-lapse movie (3.5MB quicktime file). Thanks to everyone who came. I hope you had a good time. And while that was definitely the weekend highlight, there was plenty more going on as well:

THURSDAY:
Work. Then freedom. Talked to jamie and he bought me an extra PS2 network card in case I couldn't find one here. Good thing since most retailers sold out in a half hour. Purchased Madden 2003 as a birthday present to myself and to prepare for the online onslaught I shall unleash on his ass come tuesday when my card gets here. Hoth Wampas vs. the TIE bombers... Let's get it on! Greenville with jeff and fig later that night. Laid low on the beverage intake.

FRIDAY:
9:30 golf with todd at westridge. Played hot and cold. Spent the afternoon getting ready for the party by cleaning house and spending $139 in food and beer at target while todd kept drinking and playing madden. Left my debit card in their new fancy-schmancy card readers at the checkout -- luckily it was turned in by the cashier. Friday night had a great party and ended it on a sour note. Note to self: next time kick the really drunk people out sooner before they start getting obnoxious...

SATURDAY:
Slept late and went to breakfast with jessie at cafe brazil (josey & george bush). Had the brazilian breakfast -- chorizo pocket with eggs and rosemary potatoes. Yum. Played Madden most of the afternoon then went dinner at fuddrucker's then to hurst for a birthday party that evening. Must have got signals crossed... headed to inwood theater to catch "one-hour photo", but the line was WAAAAAY too long so we settled for a trip to bookstop and paciugo.

SUNDAY:
Slept late (again) and lounged around. Picked up my debit card from target and noticed a stack of plastic four inches high from others who did the same thing. Looks like they need to watch out for that. Started to go play golf then decided it was too damned hot and went back home. Went out the boys later that evening.

MONDAY:
Lunch at cafe brazil with jessie. We had good intentions of cleaning our cars, but decided to put it off for another day. :) Got the new flatlanders CD and a coffee grinder. Whoopee. Left for the inwood at 3:00 to try again for one hour photo. Got tickets and waited in line 45 minutes in the hot sun listening to the fat couple behind us ramble on about food. Finally got in and saw the show -- good movie. Robin williams reminded me of eric snodgrass in that movie. Creepy. Came home, made pancakes for dinner and watched "curb your enthusiasm" and "sex and the city". Slept like a rock.

Now it's back to work. This break is just what the doctor ordered. And the good news is -- it's only a 4 day work week!
