Make no mistake about it, the jetpack is THE HARDEST PART of the costume. I can't say enough about how difficult it was to make this thing. My pack was built around a modified campers metal backpack. The metal frame has straps attached that crisscross under the vest and attach in front. Using a metal frame as a starting point allows you to build from a solid structure. Many people think the pack is a molded, single solid piece thanks to my use of filler putty, but in fact it consists of over 35 individual pieces glued/attached together. It also features a working light beacon thanks to an electronic switch inside the pack. It weights about 12 pounds and is sturdy enough to take the occasional bumps and curious fingers of crowds.
